March 3rd is First Friday
“MainStreet Merchants Get Roswell Reading!”
March is reading month, and MainStreet Roswell has purchased & received donations of over 700 children’s books for a First Friday book give-a-way! Shoppers can stop in at participating businesses on Friday, March 3rd, and pick a free book for every person in their group, so bring your kids. Better still, shoppers can get free books from EVERY participating merchant (while supplies last) so plan to visit all of them! While you are there, be sure to enter our monthly First Friday drawing at each stop (must be 18 or older to enter the monthly drawing). The prize this month is a gift certificate for a professional massage, provided by Paris Bridal.
Want some great selfies? Friday is your chance. There will be several famous literary characters on Main Street just waiting to pose with you, or your child. Characters like Horton (from Horton Hears a Who), The Cat in the Hat, Edgar Allen Poe, and Emily Dickinson will all be down town Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm (characters provided by Way, Way off Broadway). Hear Edgar Allen Poe recite his most famous poem, “The Raven,” as well as several of Emily Dickinson’s famous poems at The Gallery / Main Street Arts starting at 5:15. These characters will also be sharing details of their First Friday appearance in the Focus on Roswell online magazine.
Do you like music? From 5:00-8:00 pm, MainStreet has that too!
There will be a traveling Barbershop Quartet singing along Main Street (made up of actors from Way, Way off Broadway’s upcoming performance of “The Music Man”).
We also have 3 guest musicians from Lubbock, TX who will be playing at Reischman Park (310 N Main St):
As for Food, MainStreet has MANY delicious options. Kik’s Thai Food Truck will be parked by Reischman Park, Todzilla will be parked by Ancients of Days, or grab a great dinner at one of our excellent downtown restaurants – Peppers Grill & Bar, Big D’s Downtown Dive, El Toro Bravo, Billy Ray’s, Third Street Station BBQ, Papa John’s Pizza, and Martin’s Capitol Café will all be open and ready to fill your tummy!

Join us every first Friday of every month in this great community event!
Our First Friday Downtown Market event is a volunteer-driven not-for-profit event sponsored by MainStreet Roswell and its stakeholders. Our goal is to create a fun way to bring the neighborhood together and introduce Roswell residents to all Downtown Roswell has to offer. With great local shopping and dining, as well as a strong art and music culture, this will provide a great way for people to connect and experience their community.
Select merchants will stay open from 5-8 (or later) every first Friday of the month. We want to create a monthly event that will grow into something great while encouraging people to shop downtown. Enjoy a meal from your favorite food truck. Relax and eat while enjoying music from local musicians in beautiful Reischman Park! Meet fellow residents and shop owners in the area. This is a wonderful community event!
