MainStreet Roswell
Friday DownTown Market
April 6, 2018

“Main Street Keeps it Clean & Green!”

“Main Street Keeps it Clean and Green!”

You can make a difference for our city and our planet this First Friday, April 6th! With Earth Day right around the corner, downtown merchants are finding ways to help Roswell go green with recycling and clean with safe disposal. Gather the things you need to get rid of and bring them downtown to recycle or dispose of safely (empty printer cartridges, old computers, old car oil, dead batteries, plastic bottles, newspapers, etc.-  Participating merchants and recycling details below.)

We also will have flyers at Reischman Park (306 N. Main) with information on how you can recycle and safely dispose of items ALL the time, not just for First Friday! While you are there, grab a bite to eat at Kik’s food truck, then enjoy the beautiful Spring evening while you eat under the stars and listen to beautiful music (thanks to DancingLight Promotions).

We will be doing rock painting project at Reischman park. We are painting rocks that we will be hiding around the City during the UFO Festival this July for visitors to hunt and keep as souvenirs from their visit! Stop by and paint some of the prepared rocks for us to hide this summer!

Join Sippy & Opal’s (327 N. Main) open house from 5pm – 8pm, they will be giving away free car decals! They will also have t-shirts available for sale (for those wanting to be a part of t-shirt Tuesday) and coffee mugs for sale. They will be co-hosting with their friends from “Just Say Dough”- the most delicious cookie dough this side of the moon! This is 100% edible cookie dough, and you can buy a scoop of this deliciousness during the open house! Other vendors will be there too – be sure to come see the AMAZING renovation happening there!

It’s an easy walk to all of our downtown shops and if get hungry for a sit-down meal, stop in at Peppers Grill & Bar, Big D’s Downtown Dive, El Toro Bravo, Billy Ray’s, Third Street Station BBQ, Papa Johns, Stellar Coffee, or Martins Capitol Café – lots of choices  all within walking distance!

The Spring weather is wonderful, music is in the air, and it’s a perfect time to treat yourself to a refreshing and fun mini-vacation at MainStreet Roswell’s First Friday DownTown Market!

The Roswell City Landfill accepts Household Hazardous Waste such as Batteries, Pesticides, Motor Oils, and Paint. The liquids can be brought to the Landfill up to 5 gallons a day, due to our NMED-SWB Permit. These can all be dumped for free and do not go into the Landfill. They will be properly disposed of, however, paint can be utilized, again. Sometimes they have several gallons of paint with maybe ¼ full to ¾ full and people are allowed to pick this paint up FREE and use it for DIY, art projects, etc. The City of Roswell-Community Enhancement program will use this paint to cover up graffiti, as well. Although it cost $4.20 to dump tree limbs and wood, the Landfill tries to divert as much wood out of the landfill by offering FREE Fire Wood and Wood Chips to everyone, at any amount. If one of our Loaders is available, we can load the wood chips, as well.

Our First Friday Downtown Market event is a volunteer-driven event sponsored by MainStreet Roswell and its stakeholders.  Our goal is to create a fun way to bring the neighborhood together and introduce Roswell residents to all Downtown Roswell has to offer.  With great local shopping and dining, as well as a strong art and music culture, this will provide a great way for people to connect and experience their community.

Select merchants will stay open from 5PM-8PM (or later) every first Friday of the month.  We want to create a monthly event that will grow into something great while encouraging people to shop downtown.  Enjoy a meal from your favorite restaurant.  Relax and eat while enjoying music from local musicians in beautiful Reischman Park!  Meet fellow residents and shop owners in the area.  This is a wonderful community event!
